Being a volunteer at SEPROJOVEN

"Being a volunteer at SEPROJOVEN means a lot of things:

First of all it means working with children in a very pleasant way. Most of the work is about doing sport and little games with children from the poor districts of Heredia and San José in the heart of Costa Rica, but also with groups of children living in several indigenous communities.

Therefore journeys to these communities are also part of the work at SEPROJOVEN.
Currently there are two major projects in two different communities one in “Salitre” and another one in “Conte Burica”. Both located in the South and both of them with one goal: Creating a football school to give them new chances, show the children how to protect and defend the environment and their communities and strengthen the organization between the indigenous communities “Ngobes”.
These journeys are always extremely interesting because one gets to know the culture, traditions and everyday-life of another part of the population of Costa Rica that is often unnoticed and discriminated against.
Other parts of the work at SEPROJOVEN are the PR Work, which means publishing articles and news, going to events to meet other organizations and one of the most important things: Bringing up your own ideas.

On the whole, the work at SEPROJOVEN is never the same and one could really make friends for a lifetime."
