The Copa por la Equidad – Liga FEM

 

This month (November) one commemorate of the international day to eliminate the violence against women. SEPROJOVEN decided to dedicate the whole month at the empowerment of the girls, teenager and young people, with whom we are working in different communities since many years.

Because of that we have inaugurated the “III Copa por la equidad” (Third Soccer Cup of the fairness), in which participate 200 girls, teenager, young people and communal leaders, which are part of the “Liga FEM” (league feminine) and are coming from the communities “Leon XIII”, “Los Cuadros de Purral”, “Guarari” and “Rincón Grande de Pavas” as well as “Patarra de Desamparados” and the champions of the “Copa Indígena” (Indigenous Cup) of the indigenous territory from Talamanca.

This cup should unit sportive and recreational activities, collective soccer, recreation, cooperative and ludic plays, intercultural exchange, group formation, personal and interpersonal reflection and sensibility, collective construction of projects for life in order to promote the equality of different genders.

The activities of this Cup involve the practice of soccer in order to motivate the women for their personal development, to arouse their consciousness for fairness, to learn something about education and psychology, to abolish the problems and to draw the attention at the necessity of the girls, teenager and young people.

The “Copa por la equidad” is organized by SEPROJOVEN and the “Fundacion Saprissa” with the support of the national institution of the women (Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres INAMU)

Furthermore we want to share some sentences which are produced by the youthful mediators from “Liga FEM” and collected in preparatory workshops for the “Copa por la equidad”:

“The violence is fear; let us leave the fear behind playing soccer.” – Mona

“We aren’t born to suffer, we are born to win!” – Macha

“To play does not significate that they will stop to hit us.” – Sonia

“My voice, my decision, what I love is soccer.” - Priscilla

“Yes to sport and to the equality, no to the violence” – Michi

“Playing soccer, we can stop the violence” – Sonia

“To play unit persons, the violence remove that” – Michi

“Less attacked woman, more opportunities playing soccer.” - Michi

 

We invite all people to be part of this effort with comments, reactions and compartment of material which is related to the fight, through the women had and have to go all over the world to receive the right of a life without violence and to abort the impunity and the injustice against women.

Moreover we invite to join our activities, which will take place with the girls, teenager and young people during the whole November.
